popcorn 235x147 Man Sues over Microwave Popcorn Lung Disease, Wins   A Colorado man won $7.2 million in damages after a federal court determined that his chronic lung condition was caused by a chemical used in microwave popcorn.

The chemical in question, diacetyl, is a natural byproduct of fermentation and is added to many products—in this case popcorn—to add a buttery flavor. What the popcorn packaging never says is that many workers across the United States have been suing in courts since 2004 for the chemical’s link to an obstructive lung disease commonly known as popcorn lung.

Popcorn Lung - Numerous Cases

Wayne Watson, 59, is not the first to win suits in such seemingly bizarre cases. His attorney, Kenneth McClain, has represented many microwave popcorn and flavoring workers, and Dr. Cecile Rose—a witness in Watson’s case and a physician at National Jewish Health—had consulted with the flavorings industry and had found other workers with similar “popcorn lung” conditions.

Meanwhile, jurors held Glister-Mary Lee Corporation (the private-labeling manufacturer of popcorn) in Chester, Illinois liable for 80 percent of the $7,217,961 damages. Supermarket chain King Soopers and parent Kroger Co., were held liable for the remaining 20 percent. The defendants’ attorney claimed that Watson’s history of cleaning carpets with harmful chemicals was to blame for his condition, but the same cannot be said of the other plaintiffs currently in federal court in Iowa and state court in New York.

But aside from the chemical in the microwave popcorn, there is another health issue to consider. No one considers the implications of using a microwave, but using the device could have numerous negative effects on your health. Microwave dangers could leave your food completely void of nutritional value and even cause the food to be health-hazardous.

Diacetyl is found in many products, including but not limited to:
  • Alcohol beverages
  • Milk products
  • Mosquito repellant
  • Margarine
  • Oil-based food products
According to a University of Minnesota in Minneapolis study, diacetyl is also linked to Alzheimer’s plaque build-up by disrupting electrical and chemical signals in the brain.

Modern wheat is a "perfect, chronic poison," according to Dr. William Davis, a cardiologist who has published a book all about the world's most popular grain.

Davis said that the wheat we eat these days isn't the wheat your grandma had: "It's an 18-inch tall plant created by genetic research in the '60s and '70s," he said on "CBS This Morning." "This thing has many new features nobody told you about, such as there's a new protein in this thing called gliadin. It's not gluten. I'm not addressing people with gluten sensitivities and celiac disease. I'm talking about everybody else because everybody else is susceptible to the gliadin protein that is an opiate. This thing binds into the opiate receptors in your brain and in most people stimulates appetite, such that we consume 440 more calories per day, 365 days per year."

Asked if the farming industry could change back to the grain it formerly produced, Davis said it could, but it would not be economically feasible because it yields less per acre. However, Davis said a movement has begun with people turning away from wheat - and dropping substantial weight.
"If three people lost eight pounds, big deal," he said. "But we're seeing hundreds of thousands of people losing 30, 80, 150 pounds. Diabetics become no longer diabetic; people with arthritis having dramatic relief. People losing leg swelling, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and on and on every day."

To avoid these wheat-oriented products, Davis suggests eating "real food," such as avocados, olives, olive oil, meats, and vegetables. "(It's) the stuff that is least likely to have been changed by agribusiness," he said. "Certainly not grains. When I say grains, of course, over 90 percent of all grains we eat will be wheat, it's not barley... or flax. It's going to be wheat.

"It's really a wheat issue."

Some health resources, such as the Mayo Clinic, advocate a more balanced diet that does include wheat. But Davis said on "CTM" they're just offering a poor alternative.

"All that literature says is to replace something bad, white enriched products with something less bad, whole grains, and there's an apparent health benefit - 'Let's eat a whole bunch of less bad things.' So I take...unfiltered cigarettes and replace with Salem filtered cigarettes, you should smoke the Salems. That's the logic of nutrition, it's a deeply flawed logic. What if I take it to the next level, and we say, 'Let's eliminate all grains,' what happens then?

"That's when you see, not improvements in health, that's when you see transformations in health."

Cancer Contributing Foods

Ever wonder which foods should be strongly avoided by those at high risk for cancer? We can begin identifying cancer-causing foods once we know which ingredients in our food cause cancer. Some of those ingredients are food additives and chemicals used to enhance taste, while others are used strictly for appearance or to increase product shelf life. The key to avoiding cancer-causing foods is knowing which ingredients are carcinogens -- or cancer promoters -- and then reading food labels to permanently avoid consuming those ingredients.

Cancer tumors develop, in part, by feeding on sugar in the bloodstream. If you eat lots of sugary snacks loaded with simple carbs, you're loading your bloodstream with the chemical energy needed for cancer cells (and tumors) to proliferate. No biological system can live without fuel for its chemical processes, including cancer cells. Thus, one of the strategies to pursue for any anti-cancer diet is to eat low-glycemic diet. That means no refined sugars... ever! No refined grains (white flour, for example), no heavy use of sweeteners and the lifetime avoidance of sugary soda pop. Aside from starving tumors, eating foods low in sugar and avoiding simple carbs will also keep your weight in check while helping prevent blood sugar disorders such as type-2 diabetes.

What to avoid on the labels: high-fructose corn syrup, sugar, sucrose, enriched bleached flour, white rice, white pastas, white breads and other "white" foods.

The dangers of hydrogenated oils

Hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated oils -- another danger -- are developed from otherwise harmless, natural elements. To make them hydrogenated, oils are heated in the presence of hydrogen and metal catalysts. This process helps prolong shelf life but simultaneously creates trans fats, which only have to be disclosed on the label if the food contains more than 0.5 grams per serving. To avoid listing trans fats, or to claim "trans fat free" on their label, food manufacturers simply adjust the serving size until the trans fat content falls under 0.5 grams per serving. This is how you get modern food labels with serving sizes that essentially equate to a single bite of food. Not exactly a "serving" of food, is it?

Besides being a cancer factor, trans fats promote heart disease, interrupt metabolic processes, and cause belly fat that crowd the organs and strain the heart. The essential fatty acids that the hydrogenation process removes are responsible for a number of processes in your body. When trans fats replace these essential fatty acids, they occupy the same space without doing the same job. The "anchor" portion of the fatty acid is in place (which is how the body recognizes the fatty acid and puts it to work) but the chemically active part of the fatty acid is twisted, distorted, and missing vital parts.

After the hydrogenation process, the fatty acid can't biochemically function in the same way. Things like brain cell function, hormones, gland function, oxygen transport, cell wall function (keeping things in or out of your cells) and digestive tract operation (putting together nutrients and blocking allergens) are adversely affected.

Food manufacturers don't tell you this on the product label, of course. Your body needs essential fatty acids and you are programmed to keep eating until you get them. If you're only eating trans fats, you'll never feel fully satiated, because your body will never get the fatty acids it needs for essential function. Since cancer needs high blood sugar and low oxygen levels, a person with lots of belly fat who just can't seem to put down those trans fat cookies or crackers (also loaded with flour and simple sugars) presents the ideal environment for the development of cancer.

The acrylamide factor

Since trans fats are often formed during the frying process, we should also talk about acrylamides. Acrylamides are not added into food; they are created during the frying process. When starchy foods are subjected to high heat, acrylamides form. A Swedish study found that acrylamides cause cancer in rats, and more studies are under way to confirm the understanding that acrylamides also cause cancer in humans.

Sodium nitrite (and nitrates)

Food companies add sodium nitrite into certain foods on purpose. This carcinogen is added to processed meats, hot dogs, bacon, and any other meat that needs a reddish color to look "fresh." Decades ago when meats were preserved, it was done with salt. But in the mid 20th century, food manufacturers started using sodium nitrite in commercial preservation. This chemical is responsible for the pinkish color in meat to which consumers have grown accustomed. Although today the use of refrigeration is largely what protects consumers from botulism and bacteria, manufacturers still add sodium nitrite to make the meat look pinkish and fresh.

The nitrites themselves are not the problem. People get more nitrites from vegetables than they do from meat, according to research by the University of Minnesota. During the digestion process, however, sodium nitrite is converted to nitrosamine, and that's where the cancer problems begin. Nitrosamine is a carcinogen, but since it is not technically an ingredient, its presence can be easily overlooked on the packaging. Nitrosamines are also found in food items that are pickled, fried, or smoked; in things such as beer, cheese, fish byproducts, and tobacco smoke.

Knowing about all these ingredients doesn't mean there is simply a "short list" of foods that should be avoided. You have to vigilant and read labels constantly. Here are the five worst offenders:
  • Hot dogs: The Cancer Prevention Coalition recommends that children should not eat more than 12 hot dogs per month because of the risk of cancer. If you must have your hot dog fix, look for those without sodium nitrite listed among the ingredients.

  • Processed meats and bacon: These meats almost always contain the same sodium nitrite found in hot dogs. You can find some without nitrites, but you'll have to look for them in natural grocers or health food stores. Bacon is also high in saturated fat, which contributes to the risk of cancers, including breast cancer. Limiting your consumption of processed meats and saturated fats also benefits the heart.

  • Doughnuts: Doughnuts contain hydrogenated oils, white flour, sugar, and acrylamides. Essentially, they're one of the worst cancer foods you can possibly eat. Reader's Digest calls doughnuts "disastrous" as a breakfast food, and many experts agree it's probably one of the worst ways to start the day.

  • French fries: Fries are made with hydrogenated oil and fried at high temperatures. Some chains even add sugar to their fry recipe to make them even more irresistible. Not only do they clog your arteries with saturated fat and trans fat, they also contain acrylamides. They should be called "cancer fries," not French fries.

  • Chips / crackers / cookies: These generally contain white flour and sugar as well as trans fats, but it's not enough to simply look for these ingredients on the label; you have to actually "decode" the ingredients list that food manufacturers use to deceive consumers. They do this by hiding ingredients (such as hiding MSG in yeast extract, or by fiddling with serving sizes so they can claim the food is trans fat free, even when it contains trans fats (the new Girl Scout cookies use this trick).
Besides avoiding these foods, what else can consumers do to reduce their risk of cancer? The main things are simple: Eat unprocessed foods and base your diet largely on plants. Consume foods that have omega-3 fats and other essential fatty acids. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables; many common ones have known cancer-fighting properties. Get regular vigorous exercise, since tumors cannot thrive in highly oxygenated environments. Keep your blood sugar stable to avoid being an all-you-can-eat buffet for cancer cells.

Eat foods high in natural vitamin C, a nutrient that deters the conversion of nitrite into nitrosamine and promotes healthy immune function. Make sure you get adequate amounts of cancer-fighting vitamin D through exposure to sunlight -- about 10 to 15 minutes each day if you have fair skin, or ten times as long if you have dark skin pigmentation. Stay well hydrated to ensure that your body rids itself of toxins. Avoid smoking and don't use conventional fragrance, cosmetics and personal care products -- virtually all of them contain cancer-causing chemicals.

Preventing cancer is actually quite straightforward. Even the World Health Organization says that 70 percent of all cancers can be prevented with simple changes in diet and lifestyle. The truth is that most people give themselves cancer through the foods, drinks and products they choose to consume. In my opinion, over 90 percent of cancers are easily preventable.

By the way, don't you find it interesting that the cancer industry seems to have no interest whatsoever in urging people to avoid eating sodium nitrite, or to stop using cancer-causing skin care products, or to get more sunlight on their skin so they can prevent cancer with vitamin D? As you'll read in many other articles I've written here, it is my firm belief that the cancer industry has no interest whatsoever in preventing cancer, and it primarily interested in treating cancer for profit. Reaching Age 100

Your chances of reaching age 100 could be better than you think – especially if you get some additional sleep and improve your diet. New research from UnitedHealthcare looks at centenarians and baby boomers, asking the former about the “secrets of aging success” and evaluating whether the latter are taking the necessary steps to celebrate a 100th birthday.

The primary findings: Many boomers are embracing lifestyles that could lead to a long and rewarding life – with two exceptions. More than seven in 10 centenarians – 71% – say they get eight hours or more of sleep each night. By contrast, only 38% of boomers say they get the same amount of rest.

And when it comes to eating right, more than eight in 10 centenarians say they regularly consume a balanced meal, compared with just over two-thirds (68%) of baby boomers. [Related: De-Stressing Secrets from Around the World] The report – “100@100 Survey” – begins with some startling numbers.

As of late 2010, the U.S. had an estimated 72,000 centenarians, according to the Census Bureau. By the year 2050, that number – with the aging of the baby-boom generation – is expected to reach more than 600,000. Meanwhile, an estimated 10,000 boomers each and every day – for the next decade – will turn 65. How to reach 100?

Centenarians point to social connections, exercise and spiritual activity as some of the keys to successful aging. Among surveyed centenarians, almost nine in 10 – fully 89% – say they communicate with a family member or friend every day; about two thirds (67%) pray, meditate or engage in some form of spiritual activity; and just over half (51%) say they exercise almost daily. In each of these areas, baby boomers, as it turns out, match up fairly well.

The same percentage of boomers as centenarians – 89% – say they’re in touch with friends or family members on a regular basis. Sixty percent of surveyed baby-boomers say spiritual activity is an important part of their lives, and almost six in 10 boomers (59%) exercise regularly. [Related: 10 Countries Where Retirees Live Large] Again, sleep and diet are the two areas where baby boomers come up short.

Not surprisingly, the one area where boomers are more active is the workplace. Three-quarters (76%) of surveyed baby boomers say they work at a job or hobby almost every day; that compares with 16% of centenarians.

Finally, researchers turned to cultural affairs and asked centenarians and boomers to identify – from a list of 14 notable people (including President Obama, singer Paul McCartney and actors Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts) – their preferred dinner guest. The top choice among centenarians and boomers alike: the comedian Betty White.

Fukushima forum: Dr. John Apsley says U.S. is feeling the effects of radiation

Dr. John Apsley appeared on the Fukushima forum on Coast to Coast AM on Saturday, June 9, 2012. For more than 30 years Dr. Apsley, author of “Fukushima Meltdown & Modern Radiation: Protecting Ourselves and Our Future Generations” has specialized in cell regeneration and accelerated wound repair. He appeared on the show to deliver his findings on the effects of Fukushima radioactive fall-out on the Japanese people, as well as Americans.

Dr. Apsely started off by making a few comparisons between Fukushima and Chernobyl. According to Apsely, the fuel pools at Fukushima contained 7 times the amount of nuclear waste as the fuel pools at Chernobyl. There were also 6 times the number of people in the area surrounding Fukushima and the west coast of the United States as there were in the area around Chernobyl.

With these figures in mind, Apsely says we're looking at a catastrophe that can be anywhere from seven to forty-two times worse than Chernobyl. Initial estimates at Chernobyl indicated that only about 64 deaths were related to the incident. That number has since grown to more than 1 million, and if you also include the number of people who were crippled or maimed the number skyrockets to more than 8 million over the 20-year period since the meltdown.

Apsley says the Japanese people and the American people are not being told the truth. The Japanese government, in order to avoid panic, is lowering the acceptable levels of radiation in food. However, there is no safe level of radiation. Radiation stays in our system for up to 250-300 years and whether it's one rad or 20, it's still radiation.

Apsley also says researchers are working off false comparisons to the A-bombs dropped on Nagasaki when calculating the potential effects and losses. The A-bomb is a clean bomb, meaning that it had a more perfect energy conversion, releasing few radioactive particles into the atmosphere. The meltdown at Fukushima is releasing far more radiation into the atmosphere and if unit 4 were to tumble, it would have the same effect as 1,100 A-bombs.

According to Apsley much more radiation than we've been led to believe has made its way to the American shores. Because of the prevailing winds at the time of the Fukushima incident, the west coast of the United States has been exposed to serious levels of radioactive fall-out. Hardest hit were Colorado and Wyoming. Surprisingly, Jacksonville, Florida falls into this category, too, due to wind currents.

But one of the hardest hit states in the nation is Pennsylvania because of the intense rainfall they had in the area approximately 3 weeks after the explosion. This rainfall carried tremendous amounts of radiation into the area.

According to Apsley, there has been a 48% increase in infant death rates in the Philidelphia area as a direct result of radiation. Vancouver, Canada has also experienced a 60% increase in infant death rates.
Apsley estimates the United States will see 5-15% damage to their overall health compared to what the people in Japan will experience. He's predicting 5-7 million deaths over the next 20 years in Japan and another 8-25 million people will be maimed over that same time span. Most will be newborns who will suffer because of their parent's exposure to the radiation.

The radiation that's made its way to North America is settling into the ground and being absorbed into the food we eat. Apsley advises that we eat super-foods which, when absorbed into our bodies, can help eliminate the radiation. Super-foods include mushrooms, whey products, fruits and vegetables that wake up our immune system.

In the course of his research, Apsley discovered two hospitals located in Hiroshima. After the A-bomb was dropped one hospital had an almost 100% mortality rate while the other was exactly the opposite. The second hospital had almost a 100% recovery rate and it was because the were using a special food diet to help stimulate patients' immune systems to help flush out radioactivity.

Fukushima Radiation Release is Worse than You Have Been Told
                       What You Can Do to Protect Yourself

There is a continuing cover up, the reactors have not been stabilized, and radiation continues to be released. The Japanese College of Intravenous Therapy (JCIT) has recently released a video for people wishing to learn more about how to protect themselves from contamination by taking large doses of vitamin C.

Japanese Government Minimizes Danger; Ignores Vitamin C

In the fall of 2011, JCIT presented a study that Fukushima workers had abnormality gene expression, which may be avoided using dietary antioxidants, especially vitamin C. The data was presented in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. The JCIT sent letters to the government urging the government to tell the people how they may protect themselves from radiation. To date, the recommendation has been ignored by Japanese government and TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company).
Linus Pauling gained the Nobel Peace Prize in part based on his calculations of the number of deaths from nuclear weapons fallout.[1] He was supported by physicist and father of the Soviet bomb Andrei Sakharov, who also later received the Nobel Prize for peace.[2] These and other scientists estimated that there would be an extra 10,000 deaths worldwide for each megaton nuclear test in the atmosphere. A nuclear reactor can contain much more radioactive material than a nuclear weapon. Fukushima had six reactors, plus stored additional radioactive material and nuclear waste.

How Radiation Damages Cells

Ionizing radiation acts to damage living tissue by forming free radicals. Essentially, electrons are ripped from molecules. Removing an electron from an atom or molecule turns it into an ion, hence the term ionizing radiation. X-rays, gamma rays, alpha- and beta-radiation are all ionizing.
Most of the damage occurs from ionizing radiation generating free radicals in water, as water molecules are by far the most abundant in the body. While avoiding unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation is clearly preferable, people affected by Fukushima do not have the luxury of avoiding contamination.

Antioxidants: Free-Radical Scavengers

Free-radical scavengers, as the name suggests, mop up the damaging radicals produced by radiation. The more common term for free radical scavenger is antioxidant. Antioxidants replace the electrons stripped from molecules by ionizing radiation. Antioxidants have long been used in the treatment of radiation poisoning.[3-7] Most of the harm from ionizing radiation occurs from free radical damage which may be quenched by the free electrons antioxidants provide. Fortunately, safe antioxidants are widely available as nutritional supplements. Vitamin C is the prime example.

Why Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is of particular importance and should be included at high intakes for anyone trying to minimize radiation poisoning. High dose vitamin C provides continual antioxidant flow through the body. It is absorbed from the gut and helps to replenish the other antioxidants. When it is used up, it is excreted in the urine. Importantly, it can chelate, or grab onto, radioactive heavy metal atoms and help eliminate them from the body. Large dynamic flow doses of vitamin C (about 3,000 mg, taken 4 times a day for a total of 12,000 mg) would exemplify antioxidant treatment. Higher doses have been used by Dr. Atsuo Yanagisawa and colleagues. [8,9]
Shortly after the disaster, Dr. Damien Downing described how supplements can help protect against radioactive fallout.[10] OMNS issued an update on the response to Fukushima in Japan.[11] Recently, Dr. Gert Schuitemaker has provided a review of vitamin C as a radio-protectant for Fukushima contamination.[12]
Persons living in the areas affected by radioactive contamination can take antioxidant supplements, especially high doses of vitamin C, to counteract the negative consequences of long-term low dose radiation exposure, as well as to protect the health of coming generations.[12,13] People who have a possible internal or external radiation exposure should take antioxidant supplements to maintain an optimal antioxidant reserve. Because of the enormous size and oceanic spread of Fukushima contamination, this literally applies to everyone.

The Toxic Assault

Here’s an analogy of the toxic assault most of us are faced with on a daily basis. While you are sleeping you’re exposed to toxins and chemical by-products from your bedding, carpet, air-conditioner or heating unit, paint fumes from your wall, etc.

A trip to the bathroom will assault your body further with thousands of other chemical toxins that are in your cosmetics and toiletries such as toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, deodorant, shampoo, hair spray, shaving cream, lipstick, perfume, and cologne. In many cases manufacturers are not even required by law to list what chemicals are in these products.

That’s before you even sit down to have breakfast when you wake up to a jolt of caffeine from a cup of coffee and eat a sugar-laden donut or pastry. Then you’re hit with more toxins from breakfast, lunch, and dinner that will introduce more sugar, white flower, preservatives, additives, emulsifiers, stabilizers, cancer-causing dyes, artificial flavors, rancid fats, hydrogenated fats, GMOs, and a litany of other toxic additives that eventually get into the blood through digestion.

Then you step outside and breathe contaminated air, especially if you’re in a major city like New York, Los Angeles or Houston. It’s possible you could be breathing thousands of different environmental and industrial contaminants with every breath. You have fluorocarbons, tetra-fluorocarbons, PCB’s, dioxin, industrial contaminants, fossil fuels, paint fumes, mercury, Chemtrails, pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and all the other genocides.

Then you’re assaulted from the chemicals in your car coming from your dash board, air freshener, gaseous compounds from your engine, and exhaust fumes. In fact, new evidence suggests that when a vehicle is sitting in the hot sun for long periods of time numerous chemical compounds and by-products are off-gassing in the vehicle.

Combine this with the chemical by-products from industry depending on your profession. For example; if you’re a painter or if you’re a mechanic that’s dealing with turpentine solvents, these chemicals will leach through the skin and into the bloodstream.

Then you have beverage contaminants with your Cokes, Dr. Peppers, carbonated sodas, BHA, BHT, sodium benzoate, Yellow No. 5 dyes, caramel coloring, MSG, aspartame, Splenda, phosphoric acid, and thousands of other chemicals that also get into the blood through digestion.

Then you have your skin, which is literally a sponge with what you’re bathing and showering in and most people, out of ignorance, don’t have a shower filter to filter this garbage out of their municipal water. When you bathe you’re taking in chlorine dioxide, fluoride, bromide, arsenic and all the other chemical by-products they use to treat the water. It is estimated that the average person in a 10-15-minute shower absorbs through their skin the equivalent amount of chemicals that would be found in six glasses of tap water.

So the big picture is by the time you inject, breathe, eat, drink and bathe, not counting your social habits, second-hand smoke, emotional toxins, or the contaminants in your homes, businesses, or airplanes by breathing in recycled air from the air ducts that haven’t been cleaned in five years, you are past a threshold that your body can handle to stay well. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you inject, breathe, eat, drink and bathe in more contaminants than your body can eliminate on a daily basis, eventually your payday will come as a degenerative or metabolic disease and a weak link in the chain of organs.

If you’re taking in an accumulated combined total of 50,000 contaminants on Monday and the liver, kidneys, colon, lymphatic system, the skin through sweat, and respiratory CO2 output are only capable of dumping 40,000 contaminants, you’re in trouble. By Tuesday you haven’t changed your lifestyle; you have the same job, the same stress, the same eating habits, same social habits, and same job. Day after day you maintain that toxic load at 50,000 or more, and the body is only dumping 40,000 or less.

As time goes on, the immune system weakens, the liver, kidneys and the lymphatic system get congested, and they slow down as far as their filtering capability. Usually a lethargic condition or sluggishness sets in at this time telling you that contamination is occurring at the blood level. Most people, because of sedentary lifestyles that manifest malaise and lethargy ingest toxic stimulants to jump start their adrenals to get them through the day. Then at their jobs, they’re sitting around working on computers. At home they’re watching television and they’re not moving the blood and they’re not moving the lymph fluids. So as time goes on, now the elimination systems, the filtration systems, and the immune system are only capable of removing 30,000 contaminants, then 20,000, then 10,000. As time goes on, the toxic load is maintained but the elimination capability is weakened.

What happens with these extra carcinogens, acids, and toxins? They end up collecting in the blood. Once the blood becomes contaminated, the body goes under what’s called adaption response where it will shove these toxins and poisons into a weak link in the chain of organs; what I call the path of least resistance. This is your genetic predisposition given to you by your parents. Wherever your weakness is, or the path of least resistance, is where the blood is going to choose to store or deposit the toxins in non-priority tissues in order to keep the blood clean and you alive.

If the dump zone is the joints and the blood is shoving these acids and contaminants into the synovial fluid producing cells for storage, what happens next is billions of cells that produce synovial fluid or bursa fluid become congested, contaminated, and suffocated. Eventually it causes a cascading effect of cellular respiration problems and the water, oxygen, and intelligent nutrients can’t get in through the phospholipid membrane.

When billions of cells in the joints can’t produce the joint protecting fluid, you get a dryness and then an immune response of T-cells, macrophages, and NK cells to clean up the toxic mess like a Pac Man. When the white blood cells fight anything they release histamines, cytokines, or prostaglandins which are inflammatory chemicals. This inflammatory response is going to be called arthritis or bursitis by medical science. I want the readers to know that arthritis is not even a disease. “Arth” means joint; “itis” means inflammation. So inflammation of the joint is a description of the cellular malfunction of the synovial fluid or the bursa fluid producing cells.

If the dump zone is the pancreas because that’s your weak link in the chain of organs where the islet or beta cells are that produce insulin and they get congested, suffocated, and contaminated, eventually the cell receptors get clogged and they cannot produce the insulin or receive glucose. When sugar is ingested, sugar regulation is affected and you’re going to go into a hypoglycemic condition eventually leading to the label “diabetes mellitus.” Again, this is cellular malfunction just like bursa joint cell contamination would be cellular malfunction. Two different locations, one disease: Cellular Malfunction.

If the dump zone is the heart where the cardiac cells are located that regulate electrical conduction for heart contraction, eventually you’re going to have arrhythmias or palpitations telling you what’s happening at the cellular level; that the toxic residues and heavy metals are impacted in the arteries, coronaries, or the cardiac tissue. Eventually the symptoms are going to scream louder in an angina pain to tell you that cellular malfunction is more severe. When the cells malfunction in the heart, you’re going to have a label called cardiovascular disease, eventually a myocardial infarction, or a heart attack, if it’s not dealt with by non-toxic, noninvasive treatments.

If the deposition is the frontal lobe of the brain, usually it’s neuro-toxins and heavy metals such as aluminum, cadmium, lead and mercury coming from your teeth, vaccines, etc. Heavy metals will leak in through the blood brain barrier via the dopaminergic system then the lipid fatty tissue of the brain will attract these heavy metals. If it’s the frontal lobe of the brain where cells regulate cognitive thinking, you’re going to get short-term memory problems and then eventually long-term memory loss called Alzheimer’s disease. Again, these are labels of the same disease: Cellular Malfunction.
If the substantia nigra dopamine producing cells or the corpus striatum in the brain just below the pituitary is the collection or deposition zone for heavy metals and neurotoxins, you’re going to have problems with dopamine production; and you’re going to display symptoms of tremors festination, or shuffling gait, called Parkinson’s disease. There’s no such thing as Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson is the name of a doctor – Dr. James Parkinson. Parkinson’s disease is the descriptive label of cellular malfunction of dopamine producing cells in the brain.

I can show this physiological pathway with every “dis-ease” label known to man. The readers need to know that there is only one disease, cellular malfunction with two causes to the 10,001 “labels” on the one disease.

The medical answer to the cellular malfunction is to prescribe symptom suppressive pharmaceutical drugs, cut out the symptoms with surgery, administer chemotherapy, or radiate the body and poison the cells into an even further damaged state instead of fixing what’s really wrong with the patient.
The medical training curriculum in the top university medical schools of Harvard, Baylor and Stanford make sure that the medical doctors are not taught the most important subject matters of symptoms verses disease. Remember, these are 20-year-old kids that want to be an MD. They’re sitting in front of a professor in a position of trust with a white coat who’s probably on the payroll of a drug company. So, due to the infiltration of millions of dollars in the form of grant money or research money, they make sure that they do not teach the two subject matters that are the answers for cellular disease treatments: homotoxicology and nutritional biochemistry.

Most medical doctors are unaware of the toxic free radical assaults against the DNA, cell membrane, genetic material, and the deficiencies of nutritional elements that are the building blocks of the cells. The reason why these two subject matters are totally eliminated in medical school is because if they were ever taught that toxins cause cellular damage they would have to point their finger at their own profession and question their own toxic medicine, unnecessary organ removal, nuclear radio isotopes, chemotherapy, and radiation, and say, “Well, Professor, you’re telling us that X-Rays and the category of synthetic toxic compounds are the main cause of disease and cellular malfunction. Then why are we writing symptom suppressive prescriptions with multiple side effects? Why are we using mustard gas derived chemotherapy cocktails and cobalt radiation which causes cancer. And why are we using radio isotopes and medium contrast dyes that can cause DNA damage and leukemia?”

All of these treatments rob nutritional elements, make cellular respiration worse, cause dehydration, wipe out the immune system, and make cellular pH more acidic, allowing future opportunistic infections and disease to flourish.

The fact is if they were taught the truth, their whole empire would crumble because it’s built on a foundation of junk pseudo-science that cannot withstand the light of truth. When you start with a lie based on pseudo science you’ve got to maintain that lie to protect the economic system. The whole medical profession is built on symptom suppression mechanisms. Symptoms are not the disease they are just the warning signals of the cellular screams or cries due to cellular malfunction caused by toxicities and insufficiencies.

What’s interesting is these two factors cause a cascade of other problems that will eventually drive you into the hospital. Cellular detoxification should be one of the main treatment options of medical doctors to remove the cellular toxemia from the colon, lymphatic system, liver, kidneys and blood so the cells can function properly again. That is not even addressed in the medical profession. There is not one mainstream medical doctor that will implement a cellular detoxification program and very few will ever recommend nutritional protocols. The disease epidemic will continue to escalate exponentially until real health care is brought into the equation.

The Body’s Nutritional Needs

There are eleven different categories that are necessary for new cell growth and proper functioning of the body’s systems as a whole. They are:
  1. 24 amino acids.
  2. Carbohydrates or glycogen.
  3. Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s).
  4. 16 vitamins.
  5. 80 plus minerals.
  6. Enzymes (catalysts which make everything else work).
  7. Phytonutrients (pro-oxidants instead of antioxidants coming from green plants which have chlorophyll).
  8. Sunshine or photon light (electromagnetic pulse waves which come from the sun).
  9. Glyconutrients (essential glycosugars, glycoproteins and glycolipids needed for cellular communication).
  10. Oxygen.
  11. Water.
Every cell, whether it’s a nerve cell or a muscle cell or a brain cell, is analogous to us as a whole in a microcosm. For instance, we have to breathe oxygen — cells have to breathe oxygen. We communicate — cells communicate in five different languages:
  • Electromagnetic language
  • Neurotransmitter language
  • Hormonal language
  • Electrochemical language
  • Neuro-peptide language which would be a combination of brain to muscle communication.
We have internal organs — our cells have internal organs called organelles or genetic material. We have skin — our cells have a skin like texture called semi-permeable membrane to protect the inside of the cell from damage due to free radicals.

We conceive children — cells actually conceive by splitting and dividing into new cell generations called daughter cells. We produce waste — cells produce and release waste which has to be eliminated from the body through the lymphatic system, the skin, colon and urine. We need photon light from the sun — every cell of the body needs photon light from the sun for cellular communication which creates the electromagnetic energy to light up the cell like a light bulb. We harness the micro-electric current energy coming from the sun through photosynthesis
- cells harness micro-electric voltage inside the cell, in the mitochondria which produces the ATP; the energy factories for every cell. Cells are also manufacturing plants that synthesize hormones, neurotransmitters, proteins, peptides and intelligent life force to run all the body’s functions.

By knowing that the creation of the human body is built on plant-derived substances, not synthetic pharmaceutical compounds, the body is created to recognize organic verses inorganic building materials for cellular health. Anything that’s a synthetic, carbon-chain construct from petrochemicals, including vitamins, without the life force is rejected as a foreign substance. The disease process is triggered by the accumulated toxins that we inject through vaccines, eat, breathe, drink, think, and bathe in on a regular basis. If we take in more contaminants, carcinogens and acids than what the body’s filtration, elimination and immune system can handle on a daily basis, it supersedes a threshold that eventually overwhelms the body and pollutes the blood. Our blood is a river of life.

When it becomes overwhelmed with toxins it becomes a river of disease and death instead.
Most cellular insufficiencies are caused by 12 pillars of toxicities: spiritual toxins (sin), emotional toxins (anger, bitterness, stress, etc.), vaccine toxins, pharmaceutical toxins, environmental toxins, industrial toxins, food toxins, water toxins (found in tap water used for drinking, showering and bathing), beverage toxins (soda, coffee, alcohol), hygiene products, household cleaners, heavy metals (mercury, aluminum, cadmium, lead).

Most cellular toxicities trigger 12 pillars of insufficiencies: insufficient detoxification, insufficient chelation, insufficient hydration, insufficient oxygenation, insufficient pH, insufficient nutritional assimilation, insufficient energy vibration, insufficient circulation (blood & lymph), insufficient cellular communication, insufficient sunlight (photons), insufficient inflammatory response (allergies), and insufficient prayer/spiritual connection.

When you have a caked-up plaque coating of bio-film around the cell membranes, obviously that would cause hydration problems — the water can’t get in. It would cause oxygenation problems, or what’s called hypoxia, which is the medical term for low oxygen and that’s a breeding ground for bacteria, viruses, fungus, and even cancer.

It would also lead to nutritional insufficiencies. If you have a cell membrane that is caked up, coated and solidified, obviously amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and even photon light are going to have trouble penetrating the cell membrane to get inside the cell. You need intracellular nutritional elements instead of extra-cellular.

Most people don’t understand that it’s not the quantity that you take in with nutrition it’s the quality and the source. What is the bioavailability? What is actually absorbing intracellular versus floating on the outside called extra-cellular nutrition? Synthetic vitamins and inorganic minerals are not the answer. Most people don’t take in the proper nutrients necessary to get inside the cells where the genetic material lays, especially the inner hub called the nucleus, which is where the subatomic particles are. That’s the power that runs the cellular engines.

So based on the location of the cellular malfunction, there is a correlating symptom or group of symptoms that is intelligently built in by God as a warning signal that medical science calls disease. Every cellular malfunction in the human body, similar to a car, has the dummy lights that correlate to where the malfunction is occurring. Medical science, out of ignorance, is wiping out the cellular cry (symptoms), driving the disease deeper instead of getting to the cellular malfunction because of ignorance in their training in med school.

Cellular Toxins & Cellular Insufficiencies Are The Root Cause Of Cellular Malfunction That Medical Science Labels DISEASE

With over twenty plus years of extensive culminating research in diverse fields of cellular disease pathology, I have discovered there are five conditions that cause poor health. The first three only account for approximately 5% of all the health problems that plague America. They are:
  1. Hereditary weakness (genetic predispositions).
  2. Congenital deformity.
  3. Permanent organ injury (accidents and sports injuries).
The other two, or remaining 95% that are the direct cause of mankind’s disease and suffering are caused by Cellular Toxicities and Cellular Insufficiencies, over which the principles of cellular cleansing, healthy diet and lifestyle play a tremendous part. The two pillars which hold up the temple of disease are primarily the result of multiple vaccinations starting from birth, toxic mercury poisoning from dental fillings, an impoverished/nutrient deficient diet, inverted way of living, continuous exposure to toxic air, environmental contaminants, food and beverage contaminants, toxic chemicals from water (chlorine, fluoride, arsenic, heavy metals, petroleum distillates, etc.); and an extensive list of toxins contained in cosmetics, toiletries, and household cleaners.

Cellular Toxicities and Cellular Insufficiencies never occur separately, they always occur together in combination as a compounding effect where one plus one does not equal two, but equals 10, 20 or 100 times the health wrecking potency when you combine thousands of chemicals in the bloodstream.

As cellular contamination (toxins), nutritional deficiencies and cellular insufficiencies progress, they place the cells, tissues, organs, systems, and eventually the entire body into a state of stress, disorder, or Dis-Ease. When the cells malfunction and cannot perform their tasks, organ malfunction eventually occurs with a resulting cascading system malfunction; eventually leading to body malfunction.

This sub-par congestive health condition is what I refer to as the “Medical Twilight Zone of Dis-Ease” where the patient is neither healthy nor in a severe trauma crisis state. They are somewhere in between where they have fallen into the cracks of one of the estimated 10,001 categorized disease labels and are well on their way to a life-threatening illness, and eventually death if not corrected.

In a full array of lab assays conducted by a medical doctor entailing such things as X-Rays, PET Scans, MRI’s, CT Scans, Immune profiles, blood pathology, and hormonal assessments, the patient will most likely show few signs of abnormality because none of these tests have established parameters for measuring early decline of health, nor can they detect cellular toxicities and cellular insufficiencies. Consequently, the patient will either be blamed for bad genes, getting older, given a clean bill of health, be labeled by their doctor as psychosomatic or hypochondriac, or worse – be given symptom suppressive pharmaceutical drugs which will only shove the disease deeper with the patient unaware of the fact that they’re getting sicker because the drugs only mask their symptom(s) but do nothing to treat the real cause of their problem which is at the cellular level.

There are over 100 abnormal Dis-Eases that won’t register on blood tests, urinalysis, PET Scan, X-ray, computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This doesn’t include the unseen emotional toxins such as anger, bitterness, stress, anxiety or un-forgiveness that eventually lead to physical illness and can never be detected through means of medical diagnostic equipment. Unfortunately, laboratory tests are only calibrated and limited to detecting chronic, severe crisis situations where it’s often too late to take preventative measures. Their advanced equipment can easily detect liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, strokes, kidney failure, heart attacks, rheumatoid arthritis, metastasized tumors, etc., but not the medical twilight zone of Dis– Ease caused by cellular toxicities and cellular insufficiencies.

If you have toxic residues, heavy metals and plaque accumulating in the intestines, liver, blood, tissue, and cells and nutritional building elements are not able to penetrate the cell membrane to regenerate the cell’s genetic material and remove metabolic waste, then metabolic efficiency, energy and hormone/neurotransmitter synthesis is greatly reduced which will manifest symptoms of extreme lethargy, muscle weakness, gastric distention, aches and pains, depression, memory and concentration problems. These symptoms are God’s intelligence to warn us of a deeper cellular malfunction. Remember; only after massive numbers of cells malfunction or die do you begin to notice symptoms of disease. In other words, you’re already sick before you get sick.

Allopathic physicians are taught that if you can’t see it in an X-ray or detect it through lab assays, if you can’t hear it in a stethoscope, or feel it in a palpitation, it’s doesn’t exist, even though the patient’s whole body is in a state of stress or Dis-Ease. Since medical students are not taught the subject of toxicology and the dangers of accumulated toxins that cause free radical damage to the cells or the necessities of live, whole food nutrition to establish and maintain health, the entire sick-care industry can keep disease in the medical twilight zone, where no cures can be discovered and a medical monopoly of risky surgeries and lethal pharmaceuticals can keep you on the medical money-go-round, with these companies profiting hundreds of billions of dollars each year on crisis care.

It is estimated that over 75% of all office visits to medical doctors are in the medical twilight zone category of neurological disorders, chronic fatigue, stress, increased blood pressure, Syndrome X, fibromyalgia, gastric disorders, skin disorders, acute bacterial, fungal and viral infections, mental disorders, immune-suppression, and auto-immune disorders, that are all caused by two things – cellular toxicities and cellular insufficiencies. The medical profession addresses neither, yet continues to thrive as the patient spirals downward or dies.

Typical of such twilight zone disorders are symptoms of headaches, dizziness, nervousness, severe fatigue, flatulence, constipation, diarrhea, insomnia, brain fog, joint aches, and a lost feeling of well-being, which are intelligent warning signals of a healing crisis. These symptoms are the cells’ cry or scream to the brain to warn you of a cellular malfunction in a certain organ or system.
These subjective symptoms cannot be revealed by laboratory analysis until they have reached chronic degenerative proportions or metabolic disease states, nor can pharmaceutical agents treat them because these symptoms are indicative of nutritional deficiencies and cellular insufficiencies coupled with toxic cellular debris. There’s a sliding scale between health and trauma, what I refer to as the medical twilight zone of Dis-Ease. 90% of all office visits to a medical doctor are the subjective symptoms of this gap which cannot be revealed by laboratory analysis until they have reached the point of crisis or trauma care. Pharmaceutical agents do nothing to remove toxic residues in and around the cells, nor do they fix nutritional deficiencies or cellular insufficiencies. In fact, they add more toxins and rob more nutrients from the body. Only natural, non-toxic treatment and detox protocols can reverse the illness.

All medical twilight zone Dis-Eases are endogenous and are the body’s built in intrinsic wisdom instituted as a response to a healing crisis; a purging of toxins to prevent the chronic disease from settling in. These built in body-instituted purging symptoms of runny nose, mucous discharge, sweating, diarrhea etc. are misinterpreted as disease, when in reality they are the body’s effort to eliminate toxins or decaying morbid waste through the elimination pathways via skin, colon, urine, liver, or respiratory system.

To the medical establishment – fever, diarrhea, mucous secretions, coughing, nasal drippage and excessive perspiration are looked at as unnecessary nuisances to attack or suppress when in fact they are intelligent purging mechanisms to expel toxic debris from the blood and tissues that have overloaded the elimination and detoxification pathways. In their ignorance, medical doctors are drugging the symptoms of toxicities, nutritional deficiencies and insufficiencies at the cell level, or surgically removing organs based on these conditions. If they only knew that once the toxic waste residue is excreted, the cells would be allowed to absorb oxygen and intelligent nutrients again, and the body’s organs and systems would self-heal and return to homeostasis, or balance and order.

According to Dr. John R. Christopher, the father of modern herbology, “The germ is the scavenger that lives on toxins, mucous, poisons and filth. They are nature’s perfect garbage men. We should work with them, not against them. With most incubation they multiply faster and faster. To live they must eat, and the only thing they consume is the filth of the body. When all the garbage is cleaned up, they leave because they have nothing more to live on.”

Fats Don't Make You FAT

Animal fats don't make you fat: sugar does.

That was a main point made Tuesday at the Bradfield Community Center by a doctor who advocates a return to a diet low in refined sugars and carbohydrates and rich in animal fats, cream, butter, fish, olive oil and other nutrient-dense, traditional foods.

“I'll bring a bushel of soybeans and a bushel of corn over to your house, and we'll see if we can make vegetable oil out of them. You can't do it,” said Dr. Wayne A. Feister, a general practice physician from Rawson. “The point is, if you're biblical, if you believe the Earth's been here 6,000 years, for 5,900 years, man has lived on this type of fat.”

The modern, fast-food diet is slowly killing us, said Feister, a clinical assistant professor with the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. Processed carbohydrates, preservatives, additives and vegetable oils proliferate as the nation's rates for diabetes, heart disease, cancer and obesity continue to increase, he said.

Feister is an advocate of the Weston A. Price Foundation and has helped establish eight local chapters. He said he has lectured on the topic about 500 times during the past 12 years.

Weston A. Price was a Cleveland dentist in the 1930s and '40s who conducted research in the diets of native cultures around the world. The founder and head of what's now the American Dental Association's research institute, Price espoused a theory that nutrient-dense diets, including animal fats, are crucial to human health and development.

Feister shared photos taken by Price of two generations of indigenous people around the world: those raised on their traditional diets; and their offspring, raised on refined carbohydrates and vegetable oils. The younger generation's faces tended to be narrower, with eyes closer together and teeth crowded together.

“Without adequate nutrition, the middle third of their face doesn't grow,” Feister said. This causes crowded teeth, and sinus problems, he said.

Price concluded animal products, including fat, natural cheeses, eggs, raw milk and butter, provided enzymes and minerals essential for growth. At least some of these animal products are served raw. Modern processed foods either kill or strip away these essential nutrients and give others, like cholesterol, a bad name, Feister said.

Animal products are rich in Vitamins A, B12 and D as well as very long-chain, super unsaturated fatty acids. An animal-based diet also makes the body more able to absorb and use calcium, Vitamin B6, magnesium, iron, zinc and copper, Feister said. And natural salt — not the stuff in the blue canister — is the most abundant source of minerals.

“It is possible to starve for minerals that are abundant in the foods eaten, because they cannot be utilized without the adequate quantity of the fat-soluble activators” that come from a diet rich in meat and animal products, Feister said, quoting Price's 1939 book, “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.”


Dental X-rays and brain tumor

A new study suggests people who had certain kinds of dental X-rays in the past may be at an increased risk for meningioma, the most commonly diagnosed brain tumor in the U.S.

The findings cannot prove that radiation from the imaging caused the tumors, and the results are based on people who were likely exposed to higher levels of radiation during dental X-rays than most are today.

"It's likely that the exposure association we're seeing here is past exposure, and past exposure levels were much higher," said Dr. Elizabeth Claus, the study's lead author and a professor at the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut.

Claus and her colleagues write in the journal Cancer that dental X-rays are the most common source of exposure to ionizing radiation -- which has been linked to meningiomas in the past -- but most research on the connection is based on people who were exposed to atomic bombs or received radiation therapy.

There have been some studies that looked at dental X-rays, but they were from years ago and included fewer people than the current study, Claus noted. Still, they were generally in agreement with the new findings.

For her study, Claus' team recruited 1,433 people diagnosed with intracranial meningioma -- a tumor that forms in the tissues lining the brain -- between May 2006 and April 2011. All of the participants were diagnosed when they were between 20 and 79 years old and they were all from Connecticut, Massachusetts, North Carolina or the Houston or San Francisco Bay areas.

For comparison, the researchers also followed 1,350 people who were similar in age, sex and state of residence as the study group, but who had not been diagnosed with a tumor.

The study looked at how often people had three different types of dental X-rays. They included a focused image of one area, a number of images of the full mouth and a single panoramic view of the entire mouth. These are known in dentistry parlance as bitewing, full-mouth and panorex films, respectively.

Each person was interviewed by someone trained to administer a questionnaire that asked about demographic details, family history of cancer, pregnancy and medical history. The interviewers also asked -- among other things -- about the person's history of dental work and the number of times they had the three types of dental x-rays taken throughout their life.

The researchers found that those diagnosed with meningiomas were more than twice as likely as the comparison group to report ever having had bitewing images taken.

And regardless of the age when the bitewings were taken, those who had them yearly or more frequently were at between 40 percent and 90 percent higher risk at all ages to be diagnosed with a brain tumor.

To put that in perspective, Dr. Paul Pharoah, a cancer researcher at the University of Cambridge said in a statement the results would mean an increase in lifetime risk of intracranial meningioma in the U.K. from 15 out of every 10,000 people to 22 in 10,000 people.

Panoramic X-rays taken at a young age, especially if done yearly or more often before age 10, also raised the risk of meningiomas by up to five times.

There was no association between full-mouth X-rays and the tumors, although the authors note they saw a trend similar to that seen for the bitewing X-rays.

The lack of association with full-mouth X-rays led one expert to question the connection.
"They found a small risk (from) a pair of bitewings, but not a full mouth series, which is multiple bitewings. That inconsistency is impossible to understand to me," said Dr. Alan Lurie, president of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology.

Lurie also echoed Claus' caution that radiation levels from dental X-rays when some of the participants were younger was much greater than is used now.

He does warn, however, patients shouldn't assume it's fine for the dentist to take X-rays.
"They should ask why are (dentists) taking this image and what is the benefit to me," he said.
The American Dental Association put out a statement in response to the study noting that the interviews relied on participants' memories of how often they had different types of X-rays years earlier.

The statement added, "The ADA's long-standing position is that dentists should order dental X-rays for patients only when necessary for diagnosis and treatment. Since 1989, the ADA has published recommendations to help dentists ensure that radiation exposure is as low as reasonably achievable."
Dr. Sanjay Mallya, an assistant professor the UCLA School of Dentistry in Los Angeles, said that patients should be concerned whenever they are exposed to radiation, but "it's important to emphasize that this concern should not mean that we shouldn't get X-rays at all."

According to the researchers, "while dental X-rays are an important tool in well selected patients, efforts to moderate exposure to (ionizing radiation) to the head is likely to be of benefit to patients and health care providers alike."

80 Uses for Coconut Oil was by far my most viewed post of 2011. The response to the information I compiled blew me away. I am humbled by how much of an impact this post has made in the health and wellness scene. It has been reposted far and wide and it warms my heart to know that so many people are learning more and more about this beautiful oil.
Knowing how important it is to provide accurate and useful information, I decided to take my post to a new level. I have spent countless hours reading through all of the comments on this post (as well as those made on the numerous sites it is reprinted on). I have researched far and wide. And what I bring to you today is a much improved post on the benefits and uses of Coconut Oil. I have revamped some of the existing information, re-categorized the uses, and alphabetized everything to make it much more user friendly. The best part? There are now 160 uses for coconut oil listed. You read that right! I doubled the number of incredible uses for coconut oil.

Coconut Oil – An Overview
Offering a myriad of health benefits, coconut oil is affordable, readily available and completely natural. I use it for EVERYTHING. Literally. I buy it in 5 gallon increments and keep it all over my house. I even have some in the car. So here is a little information to inspire you to check out this amazing oil!

Coconut Oil Is:

  • Anti-bacterial (kills bacteria that cause ulcers, throat infections, urinary tract infections, gum diseases, and other bacterial infections)
  • Anti-carcinogenic (coconut oil has antimicrobial properties so it effectively prevents the spread of cancer cells and enhances the immune system)

Type of Coconut Oil to Use:
  • Virgin (unrefined) coconut oil tastes and smells coconutty and is great for cooking and baking where you want that flavor. You can use it for anything but it will impart a coconut taste (mild) and odor (pleasant in my book)! Unrefined coconut oil retains the most nutritional value and is superior to refined oil.
  • Expeller pressed (refined) coconut oil can be used for anything. It does not have a coconutty smell or taste. It is still outstanding to use but does lose some of it’s health properties during the refining process.
  • Food grade should always be used.

160 Uses for Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil for Personal Hygiene/Body
1.   Age Spots (also known as liver spots) – applying coconut oil directly to the age spot will help it fade.
2.   After Shave – coconut oil will help heal your skin after shaving without clogging pores. Great for razor burn!
3.   Baldness – apply three times a day to affected area of hair loss. Coconut oil supports cell regeneration.
4.   Birth Marks – can be used after a laser removal treatment to aid in healing. Can also be applied after an apple cider vinegar treatment to help support and aid the fading process.
5.   Body Scrub – mix coconut oil and sugar together and rub all over! Rinse off and your skin will be super soft! You can add in essential oils if you would like a specific smell.
6.   Bruises – applied directly to the bruise, coconut oil enhances the healing process by reducing swelling and redness.
7.   Bug Bites – when applied directly to a bug bite, coconut oil can stop the itching and burning sensation as well as hasten the healing process.
8.   Burns – apply to burn site immediately and continue applying until healed. Will reduce the chances of permanent scarring and promotes healing.
9.   Chapstick – just rub a little into lips and it not only acts as a softening agent but it also has an SPF of about 4 so you get a little protection!
10. Cradle Cap – having issues with dry skin on your baby’s scalp? Coconut oil will not only nourish your baby’s skin, it also helps eliminate cradle cap. Just rub a teaspoon onto scalp daily.
11. Dandruff – coconut oil soaks into the scalp moisturizing dry skin and relieves symptoms of dandruff. It also helps to control oil secretion from the scalp, another leading cause of dandruff.
12. Deodorant – coconut oil alone can be used as a deodorant, but even more effective in combination with cornstarch/arrowroot powder and baking soda!
13. Diaper Salve – very comforting on a rashy bum with no harsh chemicals. Also safe for cloth diapers.
14. Exfoliator – coconut oil mixed with sugar or sea salt is a very nourishing and effective exfoliator and safe to use all over the body.
15. Eye cream – apply under the eyes to reduce puffiness, bags and wrinkles. Use on the lids in the evening.
16. Face Wash/ Soap – mix equal parts coconut oil with olive oil, almond oil, avocado oil and castor oil and use in place of soap when washing your face. Wet face, rub oil in and leave on for two minutes, rinse and pat dry. One teaspoon should be adequate.
17. Hair conditioner/ Deep Treatment - use as a leave-in hair conditioner by applying a teaspoon of coconut oil to your ends and then running your fingers through your hair to distribute the rest! For a deeper treatment, rub in a tablespoon of coconut oil onto your dry scalp and gently work through to the ends. Put a shower cap on to prevent transfer onto bed linens and leave on overnight.
18. Hair Gel/ Defrizzer – rub a little between your palms and either scrunch into hair (for curly hair) or finger comb in through from scalp to ends (for wavy/straight hair).
19. Healing - when applied on scrapes and cuts, coconut oil forms a thin, chemical layer which protects the wound from outside dust, bacteria and virus. 160. Soap making – coconut oil can be used as one of the fats in soap.
